In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

Celebrate! Celebrate! Dance to the Music!

While I've been cranky, Will (and Emma, I presume!) have been planning World Week celebrations. Doesn't that sound like fun? (Will, don't forget the jalapeño lights on the back porch; we love seeing those every night as we drift off to sleep—at least I think that's what they were.) Since there's food involved, I'm very interested in this celebration. (No gluten and anti-inflammatory and all organic. Hmmm.) I think I'll figure out a ceremony for each day, too, honoring each continent. But what culture to pick from on each continent? And let's not forget the oceans. (Come on. The Old Mermaids would never forgive me. Actually, they would.) I think I'll add a day or two of celebration for the oceans, so I'll start early.

Oh, the possibilities!

Hey, there are seven seas! Alas, the old seven don't really cover the earth, but if you could figure out a modern version that did, that'd make for a cool world week. Currently, I'm fudging with Australia/Oceania.

Hmm. This almost works:

Arctic. Indian. North Atlantic. South Atlantic. North Pacific. South Pacific. Maybe the 7th could be Fresh Water Day?
