In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

And Make Me Coffee

We just saw one of the most intriguing movies I have ever seen: Secretary. It's not a subject matter I would have thought I'd even be interested in. If I'd known what it was about, actually, I probably wouldn't have gotten it. But Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader are in it, and they always give great performances. It begins like a typical Gothic, actually, only in modern times. Lee gets out of a mental institution and becomes a secretary for E. Edward Grey. They develop a kind of sadomasochistic relationship. Yet they make this relationship just seem like a love story—which is exactly what it is. I don't know who I could ever recommend this to, but it is different than anything I've ever seen, and I ended up really wanting these two people to get together. So if you like a different kind of love story, you might like this.
