In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

Because, as you said, it's ALL politics.
On a side note to cheer your day. You do know that all convictions of the assorted corruption and other crimes coming to light recently are going to end up in front of the Supreme Court sooner or later?
we have been good and truly sold out.

I am a big fan of the Randi Rhodes Show on Air America Radio, carried locally on KPOJ 620 AM from 3 to 7 pm, Monday-Friday, with some repeats on the weekend. She's also streamed live, so you can tune in via your computer from noon to four:

You can also download the show for free to your iPod, if you have one. Of all the talk radio hosts out there, I think that Randi's doing the best coverage of these issues.
AND she's entertaining, to boot! :-)

Was that an ad? I'm not sure how that pertained to my post. Regular readers know I do listen to the Randi Rhodes show. So if you're a real person, anonymous, let me know. Otherwise, I'll delete this particular comment.
Hi, Tom. Yep, the powers that are seem to be holding all the strings, don't they? Maybe the populace will rise up and cut those strings, i.e. throw them out next election.

Kim, the reason I posted that "ad" for the Randi Rhodes show is that she says the same things you do, but amplifies on these points with sound clips of what these guys are actually saying. If folks reading your blog appreciate the political commentary (as I do), they might also enjoy listening to Randi's show. That's all.

Thanks, Anon! I have gotten spam ads in the comments before, so I was just checking. Yes, plug Randi's show at every chance. She's great. Take care.

Thanks, Kim!
I have a Google Alert set to "Air America Radio" simply because I like to know what's happening with it. The only AA shows I listen to regularly are Thom Hartmann (amazing!), Al Franken, and Randi Rhodes, my fave, despite some occasional comments that make me cringe -- she was in the Air Force AND was a truck driver for a period of time -- and she doesn't hold back. I have no affiliation with AA or any of the hosts whatsoever, but I think that shows like Randi's are really important as a source of political information, so lacking in the mainstream media. (I love the Daily Show with Jon Stewart as well.)
Anyway, this morning I got a Google alert that has an interesting "review" of Air America's first year of broadcasting in the L.A. market, and here's what Mark S. Tucker wrote about Randi:

Randi Rhodes - the undisputed Queen Of The Airwaves, nationally elevated from relative obscurity in Florida. Whoever decided to sign her should be getting a bonus. Rhodes has a completely polished acumen, sardonic New York accent and attitude, and a wit that bites deeply - as well, her familiarity with legal niceties can be sometimes shockingly on-point. She also possesses the mothering instinct, wanting to nurture Righties away from zombiehood, which can be annoying, but cuts it with a finely tuned sense of outrage, all the stronger as this administration of corporate pirates continues to gut the country’s wealth and ideology. Her nauseating idolatry of Oprah is irritating as hell, not to mention her repugnance for anything that seems to carry an air of conspiracy, which is ridiculous (as any sense of jurisprudence will inform) though she shares it with the near-entire staff, but Rhodes cuts to the heart of things rapidly and, once the wound is laid open, sets to her task with a will.
Lately, her tone has been rivaling Mike Malloy’s and the passion’s welcome indeed. When Randi’s fire is lit, look out! Of course, none can hope to rival Malloy for sheer venom and invective, but Rhodes is doing an admirable job as clean-up hitter. She also carries hilarious comedy spots for such gems as “Republican Rehab” and an ersatz news overview, but the bulk of the four hour bonanza is hers alone, one of the few slots when the audience prefers the host not go to the phones at all, spellbound by consummate skills in delivery amidst sneers that punch through steel walls. Her slot is one of only two perfectly placed, Sam Seder & Janeane Garofalo’s (“The Majority Report”) being the other, and the only possible recommendation here could be: “It ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!!”, with the corollary of “Randi Rhodes: The Best Thing to Happen to Talk Radio Since Marconi!”
