In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

Nausea

All right. I'm feeling like I'm in a Jean-Paul Sartre story. Only my nausea is caused by the stink of them, not myself. I read this article and I think I just experienced my "tipping" point. Not sure what that means yet. How I will express that tipping point. If I had any glaciers they would be melted now by my fury. Maybe I will just grieve over what has happened to our Earth, our country, my friend, and myself. I don't know why but this just seems like too much. Is nothing sacred? Using gravestones to plug a politcal agenda? "Unlike earlier wars, nearly all Arlington National Cemetery gravestones for troops killed in Iraq or Afghanistan are inscribed with the operation names, such as 'Operation Iraqi Freedom' and 'Operation Enduring Freedom', which the Pentagon selected to promote public support for the conflicts." Come on. I've got to find some humor in this crap. Maybe it's time to continue with Compassion Fatigues.

In the meantime, I'm going outside to try and quell this nausea. 3 comments

I would love to read the finished version of Compassion Fatigues. A little black humor to stave off the darkness.

Sorry to hear you are going through such energy sapping situations. Know that I wish you a calming peace and keep you and all you hold dear close in my thoughts my friend.

To me, putting the operation names on tombstones sounds more anti-war than pro-war.

It's kind of strange that an administration that has gone to such great lengths to make sure we never see a flag-draped casket thinks nothing of advertising on a tombstone.
