In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

One of the Family Kidnapped

I've written about A Family in Baghdad before, most recently just a few days ago. FS reader Sheila F. let me know last night that Faiza's son, Khalid, has been kidnapped. He was missing for a couple of days. (Can you imagine how awful those two days were?) Apparently he was able to call his family from jail; his brother Raed talks about it on his blog. As I understand it the Iraqi intelligence service has kidnapped him. Now that the family knows who has taken him, they are somewhat reassured. We wish them all well.

By the way, I've put the link to the Iraqi Civilian War Casualties to the right near the Riverbend link. 0 comments
