In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

A Case for Space

This is on the Falling Creek trail. It has been like this for as long as I've been hiking there. I remember the first time I went by it, I wondered what would happen if the log suddenly slipped as I walked by it. It reminded me of a giant piston. Now I view this place, this space, with affection and familiarity. Each time I walk between these two parts of this long ago fallen tree, I am—for a moment—the missing piece. (The missing link? Ahhhh, Bigfoot. Here I come.) It is comforting and terrifying all in the same breath. Kind of like life.
