In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

Insurgency Same as a Year Ago

During today’s Pentagon briefing (which is still going on as I write this), General Myers, the outgoing Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that the incidents of insurgency are the same as a year ago. Rumsfeld tried to spin this comment by saying that this was actually a good thing because there could be more incidents of insurgency. It still sounds as though they are treading water. Rumsfeld said the United States will not win or lose this war; the Iraqi people must decide to overcome the insurgency themselves. This is an astonishing statement. The so-called insurgency arrived after the United States invaded. The insurgency is made up of people who have come to Iraq with the express purpose of fighting Americans, as I understand it. Wouldn't the insurgency then leave if the United States left? 0 comments
