In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

"The first thing we do..."
"...let's kill all the lawyers." Of course you've all heard that quote from Shakespeare's Henry VI for years. It's often used to illustrate some point about how awful lawyers are. But that isn't what the quote means. In that scene men have gathered to plot the overthrow of the government. For their revolution to succeed, they knew they would have to get rid of those who helped maintain order: lawyers. In other words, if you want to destroy a government, "kill all the lawyers." Get rid of the rule of law. I believe this is what the Emperor With No Clothes and his tailors have been doing for years. Their attempt to make the filibuster unconstitutional is part of their plan to undo the judiciary and/or make it their own (which accomplishes the same thing).
These people do not want to govern; they want to rule—and break anyone who does not go along with them. They have no sense of history. I don't believe they care about this country or the people in it. They only care about dominance and power and their business interests. I hope the Democrats continue to fight back with every ounce of their energy. The Emperor and his couturiers (and coterie) do not believe in checks and balances in government. I don't think the Bushies are true Christian. They use a minority of religious fanatics to rally around them so they can claim they are Christians while they commit all kinds of dirty deeds. (Thus the so-called "Justice Sunday."
Anyway, call your Senators if you have the mind to do so. Do what you can to keep the Bushies from totally dismantling our government. And make magic wherever you can. Weave those spells. Who knows what will finally work? Time maybe. And don't hurt any lawyers, of course. It may be a few good lawyers that save us. 0 commentsAll photographs and written material copyright © 2003-2008 by Kim Antieau unless otherwise indicated. May not be used without permission.
