In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

From the Duh File 

You've heard of the dead, dying, and stranded dolphins in Florida? I've been listening to the news about this event. The 'casters keep talking about it being a mystery. What could have happened? Could it possibly be linked to sonar used by a nearby submarine? You don't need Aggie to solve this mystery. Scientists have known for some time that certain kinds of sonar are very damaging to marine life. Imagine you had to listen to screaming as loud as a space shuttle launch and tell me you wouldn't do anything to get away from it.
