In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

Another Birdwatcher

I found this on the Orion website: birdwatching entries on the blog of Sergeant First Class Jonathan Trouern-Trend, a U.S. National Guardsman stationed in Iraq. I was struck by how ordinary it all sounded—like when Mario and I go out birdwatching. Made me cry, for some reason. And it's giving me all kinds of story ideas. 0 comments
