In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

Great Review of Mario's Books

Here's a link to a great review by Charles de Lint of Mario's two poetry books, Animal Life and Fantasy Life. (Scroll down in the review or keyword search "Mario.") He is a such a wonderful poet. He's working on a novel now, so I've been missing his poetry lately. Check his books out if you can. If you don't want to buy them, you can always ask your public library to purchase them. You've read some of his work on Furious Spinner if you're a regular reader. How to describe his poetry? It's unique. Mario looks at the world in a way like no one else I've ever known. I suppose you could say his poetry is a cross between the works of Billy Collins, Salvador Dali, Mother Goose, and Borges. See. I told you he was unique. 0 comments
