In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

Getting Ready

Mario and I are leaving Saturday for a month-long trip. We’re going to the Southwest via California. We want to go to the Pueblo winter dances in New Mexico, and then we’re going to a writer’s retreat for a few weeks. I plan to post while we're on the trip, although it's possible I'll change my mind. Last time we went to the Southwest, I did a kind of road trip journal that I emailed to people who wanted it, and that was fairly successful. I'll do a similar thing this time, only it'll be on my blog. This means I probably won't do any current events or much political stuff. So if that's your main interest in Furious Spinner, you might want to check back in a month. It also means what you’ll be reading will be first draft. What I usually post now is already pretty close to first draft, but at least I try to read it over once and have Mario read the longer pieces before I post. On the road, it'll just be what it is.

I hope you all have a great holiday season. For me, I'd like to get some healing, so that's what I'm hoping for. I believe Santa is actually a shaman. So Santa, baby, send some healin' my way. 0 comments
