In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

It's Code, My Friends 

Do you remember during the debates when Bush mentioned the Dred Scott decision, and we all paused and thought, "Bush knows who Dred Scott is?" Well, here's why he mentioned it, according to Timothy Noah: "Dred Scott" is code for "Roe v. Wade" to the slimy racist right. By invoking Dred Scott's name, Bush was saying to his base, "Don't worry. I'm gonna appoint a judge who will repeal Roe v. Wade quicker than you can say yeehaw."
