In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

Happy Friday the 13th!

I've probably already mentioned this, but Friday the 13th is actually a very auspicious day. Friday was traditionally the day of the great Scandinavian goddess, Freya. Freya was a goddess of life and death—and "the essence of sexuality," according to Patricia Monaghan. The number 13—the number of moons in a year—was linked with the goddess. If the number 13 fell on the day of the goddess—Friday—powerful energies could be tapped, at least that probably why it scared the bejeezus out of the Catholic Church. (What did they do when a full moon fell on Friday the 13th? OMIGODDESS!) So to my way of thinking, this is a great day to celebrate—and a lucky one, too! 0 comments
