In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

Torture 

I'm a little slow sometimes. When I heard the soldier on 60 Minutes complain that his superiors knew what he was doing, I thought he was trying to pass the blame—and maybe he was. However, his point may have been that he was encouraged to torture the prisoners to get them ready for interrogation. Sick. In any case, it seems those tortured prefer Saddam's brand of torture.
