In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

To Quote Pogo...

"We have met the enemy...and he is us." I am so ashamed of our government and the military. I haven't the words presently to articulate how disgusted I am. We must rise up and meet this challenge–we must rise up and demand an accounting. We were meant to be better than this. As part of the privileged (because we live in the U.S. we are by default privileged), it is up to us to stop the government from what they're doing. Talk to everyone you know. Tell them what is happening. (What in particular am I talking about? The war in Iraq and the killing of Iraqi prisoners; see link above.)

I have spent many days immersed in 1796, so I'm feeling a bit of culture shock being back in the 21st century. Gotta get my sea legs again, so to speak. Am I babbling? I wrote more than fifty pages yesterday. Less today, but I've finished the first draft of Lady Liberty. Now I shall go eat lunch.

May you remember in Beauty. 0 comments
