In times of old, The Furies protected Mother Right. If a mother (or any woman) was harmed, The Furies swooped down and took their vengeance. They were one of the last vestiges of a world that existed before the patriarchy. When we feel righteous anger, it is The Furies who are calling out to us to make what is wrong right again.

The Report 

If you're interested in the 53 page report (PDF) that revealed the abuse to the military brass, NPR has a PDF of it. NPR has lots of good stories on their site about Iraq.

Don't you find it rather disconcerting that the politicians keep talking about how terrible these photographs are, and they're upset they didn't know about the photographs. Shouldn't they be upset about the abuse?

I'm sure you've heard there are more photographs, but most of the Republicans are saying they're not going to release the rest of the photographs. Perhaps these people should go back and read their history. The founding fathers (for all their flaws) knew that power corrupted, and they knew that secrecy bred abuse. We are supposed to be an open society. Everything about this abuse scandal, as repulsive as it is, needs to be aired publicly.
